Challenging Paradigms

In an IRC (Internet Relay Chat) room today, I asked an innocent yet controversial question. The question simply challenged the need for a Christian Cruise to attend seminars.

The fur flew immediately. Folks called me a legalist, and said I was imposing my views on others. I pointed out I simply challenged them. I was told to "Lighten Up."

In my view, Christianity is to demonstrate what the Bible (Christ) teaches us. To live simply, to renounce the things of the world. We don't need to spend money on cruises to glorify God or to share with the Muslim crew (as one IRC'er stated was a benefit). We need to live Christ to others...let our walk reflect His teachings. No legalism...just a simple love for Him. No moralizing, no rules...just following His example...carrying our cross daily and denying ourselves.

Again, I am in the minority and a wooden spoon that stirs the pot.

Interesting...people are afraid to be challenged.
